My experience, my inexperience, and my memories are the working materials from which I draw. Here, they are diaries, meticulously combed through, from ages 12 to 20. Throughout these lines, one guiding principle emerges: boys. Who are they? What do they want from me? What sould I expect from them? It is the story of a painful relationship with a sick, excessive, violent, and absent man — yet always too present. It is the story of a mourning; it is a story that has not yet finished being written, but one that I will tell you in this movie, because so far, Je ne comprends pas les garçons (« I don’t get boys »).
